Fisher House Golf Classic 2024 raises over $700,000 for military and veteran families

Golfers and other supporters came together May 6 at The Golf Club at Lansdowne in Virginia to support military and veteran families through the Fisher House Golf Classic, an annual fundraiser that has raised more than $11 million over 21 years.

The main event at the fundraiser was an 18-hole golf game in which 191 golfers played together in groups of up to four. Presidential Sponsor SAP, Platinum Sponsor Oshkosh Defense, and over 100 other sponsors and auction-item donors helped make it a great event.

Auction items included vacations, gift certificates, sports and military memorabilia, jewelry, artwork, and more.

Medal of Honor recipient Marine Col. Harvey "Barney" Barnum Jr. spoke before the shotgun start. Soldiers Medal recipient Army Col. Patrick Miller spoke to the participants after the classic about his experiences while recovering after the Fort Hood shooting in 2014 while his family stayed at the Fort Hood, now Fort Cavazos, Fisher House.

The 2025 fundraiser is planned for May 5, once again at The Golf Club and resort at Lansdowne in northern Virginia.
