06/13/2024 A Military Family's Journey through Separation and Healing
The Brices were living in Grafenwoehr, Germany in March of 2023 where Army Staff Sgt. William Brice was stationed as a Cavalry Scout. When five-year-old Adela was diagnosed with a very dangerous type of anemia, they were transferred to Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis McChord in Tacoma, Washington. Mother, Annah, and Adela stayed at Fisher House while Adela received treatment while William returned to duty in Germany.

Army veteran and mother Lupe stayed at Fisher House at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia with her adult daughter while she waited for and recovered from a heart transplant. They find peace in the comfort of the Fisher House, friendship, and sharing meals with other guests.

06/13/2024 Vietnam veteran and wife reflect on 11 years of Fisher House
Harry, an Army Vietnam veteran, and his wife Karen have seen a lot of life together. They married 40 years ago and now have fought through disease and illness while staying at the West Palm Beach VA Fisher House off and on for 11 years. Most recently, they fought a battle with Harry’s cancer and came out on top.

Immediately upon our arrival we were comforted by how warm and welcoming the Fisher House was to our little family. Tim, a staff member who quickly became a pal to our 17-month-old, graciously walked us through an impromptu tour of the home, which radiated warmth, comfort, and hospitality.

Golfers and other supporters came together May 6 at The Golf Club at Lansdowne in Virginia to support military and veteran families through the Fisher House Golf Classic, an annual fundraiser that has raised more than $11 million over 21 years.

Army veteran Matthew Melancon, one of the first elective double amputees travels yearly from his home in Utah to San Diego to be refitted for specialized prosthetics that allow him to maintain an active lifestyle. He receives support and comfort while staying at the Camp Pendleton Fisher House.

04/19/2024 Fisher House at Lovell Federal Health Care Center in N Chicago will be the 100th Fisher House
Construction of the 100th Fisher House has begun at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center located in North Chicago, Illinois. Unlike other Fisher Houses built for the VA or a particular military service, this will be the first-of-its-kind home built for the partnership between the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense (DoD), integrating all medical care into a federal healthcare facility with a single combined mission.
