Julie Riggs

Vice President of Community Relations

Julie Riggs is a community-minded leader in the nonprofit sector with a proven track record in building capacity through partnerships and collaborations. As the Vice President of Community Relations for the Fisher House Foundation, she serves as the Foundation’s liaison to communities with an operational Fisher House, as well as those communities seeking a new Fisher House for their local VA or military medical center.

Julie brings to her position a wealth of experience in strategic planning, community engagement, advocacy, and relationship management. She believes that collaboration is the building block of progress and is always looking for ways to collaborate to find solutions and drive change.

Julie has a long history of service to the military and veteran community through her work at nonprofit organizations such as Blue Star Families, the USO, and the National Military Family Association. Outside of the office, Julie continues her service to the armed forces through her community work on several nonprofit boards and in 2023, Maryland Governor Wes Moore appointed Julie to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Maryland Veterans Trust Fund.

Julie graduated from San Jose State University in CA with a B.A. in English and is a graduate of the Princeton Alumni Corp Emerging Leaders program. She is the proud wife of a retired Naval Chief Petty Officer. Julie lives in Silver Spring, MD along with her husband, their twin teenage kids, and their curmudgeonly bulldog, Hank.
