Trusant Technologies, LLC this fall raised $26,000 for the Fisher House Foundation by hosting Trusant’s fourth Eagle Classic Golf Tournament.
Set on the challenging Cross Creek Golf Club in Beltsville, Md., the 2012 Eagle Classic attracted more than 100 golfers from area companies and featured a putting contest, a closest-to-the-pin contest, and prizes for top teams and longest drives.
Trusant - an Ellicott City-based provider of information technology and construction management services to government and commercial clients - created the golf tournament to support a nonprofit that exemplifies the company’s values and veteran heritage.
Trusant executives have selected the Fisher House Foundation as the beneficiary of each Eagle Classic. To date, those tournaments have raised more than $138,000 to support the foundation’s work.
Fisher House operates 57 “comfort homes” on the grounds of every major military medical facility and Veterans Administration medical center in the U.S. The foundation provides free accommodations, free travel and other support to the families of injured or ill military personnel and veterans. Since its inception in 1990, Fisher House has served nearly 160,000 military families and saved families more than $192 million in lodging and transportation expenses.
“Trusant Technologies has long been impressed by Fisher House’s impact on military families,” said Joseph DiGangi, a co-founder and principal of Trusant Technologies. “The foundation has also consistently ranked as one of the top nonprofits in America for the percentage of donations that go directly into serving clients.”
Nancy Baldwin, vice president of Trusant Technologies, added that the 2012 Eagle Classic attracted “the largest number of sponsors ever, which went a long way towards making this another successful year. While many of our sponsors and participants have served in the military, this is truly an event that touches everyone in attendance. It provides a wonderful way to honor and give back to the brave men and women who have served our country, and to their families as well.”
