Puyallup, WA (PRWEB) June 01, 2012
Toyota of Puyallup donated $7,500.00 in support of the construction of the second Fisher House on Joint Base Lewis McChord. The donation was presented on Wednesday, May 16th at a KIRO Radio event that was being held in Tacoma. Toyota of Puyallup has partnered with KIRO radio, Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners to help raise awareness and funds for the Fisher House. The Fisher House Foundation constructs comfort homes to provide free, temporary housing to families of service members receiving medical care at military hospitals around the world.
On hand for the check presentation were Katie Cartwright (Director of Marketing, Toyota of Puyallup), Randall Bloomquist (Manager of Radio Relationships, Fisher House Foundation), Ron Upshaw (Radio Personality, 97.3 KIRO-FM) and Carl Gardner (Vice President & Market Manager, Bonneville Radio Group).
“With the military base being right here in our backyard, we serve military men and women every day. It is our turn to give back. Beginning May 17th through July 4th, Toyota of Puyallup will donate $50.00 for every new Toyota vehicle sold, with a minimum donation of $7500.00. We hope to raise much more than this though,” said Cartwright during the check presentation.
The first JBLM Fisher House was built in 1992 and has eight bedrooms, surrounding common living, dining and kitchen facilities. The average stay for a military family is two weeks and the house has operated at 100% capacity for the last three years. Last year, more than 300 families stayed at the Fisher House, at a savings of more than $450,000 in lodging expenses.
